A native of Siler City, North Carolina, Michael graduated Magna Cum Laude from North Carolina State University. After college, he worked in the field of higher education law as a policy analyst and went on to attend the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University.
While at Campbell, he was member of the Campbell Law Review, the Student Bar Association, and was the President of the International Law Society. He received several accolades including the Calhoun Award for Outstanding Performance in Trial and Appellate Advocacy and the Richard A. Lord and Henry A. London scholarships.
Awards
Since in practice, Michael has been named as a Top 100 Lawyer by the National Trial Lawyers, twice received the AVVO Clients’ Choice Award and has been named a Humanitarian of the Year by the North Carolina State Conference of the NAACP. Most recently, Business North Carolina named Michael as one of the state’s Legal Elite in criminal defense, an honor given to less than three percent of the state’s attorneys.
Practice
Michael is admitted to practice in all state courts of North Carolina and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina. He regularly litigates cases before the North Carolina District and Superior courts, the North Carolina Industrial Commission and has prevailed in the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
He is a member of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice, the Wake County Academy of Criminal Trial Lawyers, and the National College for DUI Defense.
